What technology is used in Shark Shield

The town of Terrigal in Australia has now decided that students from the “Haven Education Center” are only allowed to enter the water with a “Shark Shield” on their feet.

This measure was introduced due to the increased number of shark attacks in the region. Headmaster Chris Kokegei told the Daily Telegraph:
“The kids have been so nervous about going in the water after all the shark scares this year. We had to do something to make them feel comfortable again. I've been looking into all the different shark repellent technology for years and research in South Africa and Western Australia clearly shows this is the best. Shark nets hurt marine life, other than target sharks. But the Shark Shield doesn't. "

The "Shark Shield" sends electrical signals to keep sharks off.
