Disha Patani ( pronounced [ˈD̪ɪʃa paːʈəˈni]) is an Indian actress who mainly works in Hindi films. She began her acting career with the Telugu film Loafers (2015) alongside Varun Tej and later made her Hindi debut in sports biography MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016). She starred in the Chinese action comedy Kung Fu Yoga (2017), which is one of the top-grossing Chinese films of all time.

In the commercially successful Hindi action films Baaghi 2 (2018), Bharat (2019) and Malang (2020) she played the main male character's romantic interest.

Early life

Patani is a Kumaoni from Uttarakhand and Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, is her place of birth. She is from Rajput. Her date of birth was reported inconsistently in the media on both June 13, 1992 and July 27, 1995. Her father, Jagadish Singh Patani, is a police officer and her mother is a health inspector. Her older sister, Khushboo Patani, is a lieutenant in the Indian army. She also has a younger brother, Suryansh Patani. She studied engineering. On a radio broadcast, she revealed that her real last name was rather Patni as Patani was .

Career

Patani made her debut in 2015 with a Telugu film, Loafers, together with Varun Tej. She played the role of Mouni, a girl who runs away from home to escape a forced marriage. Directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by C. Kalyan under CK Entertainment The film was made-up on a budget of ₹ 200 million and performed poorly at the box office with a lifetime collection of ₹ 106 million. The following year, Disha appeared in a music video, Befikra with Tiger Shroff, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the T series and composed by Meet Bros.
