What is the code for face recognition

Set up Face ID on iPhone

You can use Face ID (on supported models) to securely and conveniently unlock your iPhone, authorize purchases and payments, and log into third-party apps. All you have to do is look at your iPhone.

Before you can use Face ID, you'll need to set a passcode on your iPhone.

Set up Face ID or add another face

  • Select "Settings" > "Face ID & Passcode"> "Configure Face ID" and follow the instructions on the screen if you did not set up Face ID when you first set up your iPhone.

  • To configure another face for Face ID to recognize, go to Settings> Face ID & Passcode> Configure Alternate Appearance.

If you're physically challenged, you can tap Accessibility Options while configuring Face ID. If you make use of this option, you do not have to turn and move your head to the extent otherwise necessary for face recognition. Using Face ID is still safe. However, a higher degree of constancy is required when looking at the iPhone.

Face ID also supports accessibility for people who are blind or visually impaired. If you don't want Face ID to ask you to look at your iPhone with your eyes open, go to Settings> Accessibility, then turn off Face ID Attention Checker. This option is automatically turned off if you turned on VoiceOver when you set up iPhone for the first time. For more information, see Change Face ID and Attention Settings on iPhone.

Temporarily deactivate Face ID

You can suspend the ability to unlock your iPhone using Face ID for a certain period of time.

  1. Press the side button and one of the volume buttons and hold down both buttons for two seconds.

  2. When the sliders appear, press the side button to instantly lock iPhone.

IPhone locks automatically if you don't touch the screen for about a minute.

The next time you unlock your iPhone with your passcode, Face ID will be reactivated.

Deactivate Face ID

  1. Select "Settings" > "Face ID & Code".

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Deactivate Face ID only for certain options and actions: Turn off one or more options: Unlock iPhone, Apple Pay, iTunes & App Store, or Auto. Complete in Safari ”.

    • Deactivate Face ID: Tap Reset Face ID.

If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Find My iPhone in Lost Mode to prevent Face ID from being used to unlock your device. (For more information, see Find a device in the Find My app on iPhone.)
