Dr. Barbara Lake is the mother of Jim Lake Jr.

Official description [edit | Edit source]

"Barbara is the understanding, kind, and protective mother of Jim Lake. She takes care of her son alone because her husband left her when Jim was only 5 years old. She works as a doctor at Arcadia Hospital and comes to investigate several cases involving trolls. She is completely ignorant that her son is the troll hunter, but she knows that something is being hidden from her and that she could put herself in danger."

Appearance [edit | Edit source]

Barbara is a tall, thin woman with brown hair and blue eyes. She usually wears petrol scrubs, a doctor's coat, and square glasses.

Personality [edit | Edit source]

Barbara is a very sweet and loving person. When Jim became the troll hunter and kept it a secret from her, she became very concerned because Jim was injured and didn't want to explain what was going on. When Jim finally explained to her, she made him promise she would explain again when she was badly injured by Angor Rot after she got better (which he broke). Barbara loves Jim deeply and is always trying to feel better about herself and his life.

Relationships [edit | Edit source]

Jim Lake Jr. [edit | Edit source]

When Jim's father left her, Jim began doing so many things for Barbara and running the house that Barbara was worried about. When Jim became the troll hunter, he had to keep it a secret from her so she wouldn't worry about his double life. Anyway, she got worried. Jim kept coming home late and getting into serious trouble, such as getting arrested and going to the hospital. Barbara tried to get him to tell her what his double life is, but he chose to keep lying just to save her from danger. Jim's secrecy only weighed on their relationship. She finally found out after catching him and Strickler preparing to fight Angor Rot in their home. Barbara was concerned about Jim and wished her son wasn't the troll hunter. Jim assured her that it was his destiny to be the trolls protector, but Barbara wondered who would protect him. Before Barbara erased her memory, she said that she always thought Jim was her hero and shouldn't worry about her and that it was not his job to protect her, but she was him because she is the mother and wants him told her again about his double life. Unfortunately, Jim broke his promise again. It is not known if he will tell her again.

Stricklander [edit | Edit source]

When Barbara first met Strickler, she took a liking to him. Strickler was in love with her, and maybe Barbara too. She took him out to dinner, unaware that he was struggling and feuding with Jim, when Jim found out that Strickler was a shapeshifter. After they fought without her noticing, Jim told her not to see Strickler anymore, which she disliked because he seemed nice. While Barbara enjoyed hanging out with him, she always talked to him, keeping Jim's secrecy talking about her problems. Little did she know that Strickler was taking advantage of their relationship by putting a bonding spell on herself and her to keep Jim from harming him. Draal also saw her kiss once. When Jim and Strickler team up to fight Angor Rot to protect her, she is accidentally drawn into the fight. Strickler]] helps Jim protect her, and the binding spell causes her, along with Strickler, to cause Angor Rot to attack the shapeshifter, injuring him and Barbara. They break the bond spell to heal her, which would also erase her memory of Jim's double life. After seeing everything that Strickler did against her son, she bitterly tells him that she would be glad not to remember him, confirming that she no longer likes him. She hears him apologize to her before her memory of what they went through was erased.

Blinky [edit | Edit source]

When Blinky turned into human, Barbara started talking to him, believing he was Jim's new advisor. They seemed to get along well, especially since Blinky thought highly of Jim. Barbara was shocked to find out that Blinky was a troll, but she still seemed to like him. Because of her memory of Jim's double life, she currently doesn't know who Blinky is or whether the trolls even exist.

Trivia [edit | Edit source]
