What are the nicest aggregation pages

The useless web - StumbleUpon for the strange side of the internet

It is believed that there are roughly 7.6 billion pages on the web at the time of writing. Even me, someone who has been online for most of their life, will never be able to visit every single page. Having so many pages on the web means that a little curation means a lot. Which is why MakeUseOf itself exists; You don't have to do this to find the best websites on the web.

The thing is, quite a large portion of that amount isn't going to be particularly useful. They can just be parked domains or sites that don't have love and attention. And then there are those who are purposely useless and serve no other purpose than to make someone feel satisfied, somewhere, that they own a small, insignificant part of the internet.

The useless web

There are social aggregation sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, and Reddit that act as portals through which the best of the web can be promoted and explored. The useless web is slightly different from the pillars of the internet mentioned above. Because it acts as the entrance door to the alien side of the online universe, where the strange pages hang around waiting for innocent passers-by to fall into their trap.

The Useless Web is a web portal created by Tim Holman, an Australian web developer currently working at Qwiki in New York, USA. He describes The Useless Web as existent "because we just couldn't do without some websites.“The Useless Web consists only of a banner with the legend Take me to a useless website, please. click on You're welcome will transport you to some hidden gems.

Highlights

I've iterated all of the sites through The Useless Web Links multiple times, and the three that stand out to me are as follows:

Heyyeyaaeyaaaeyaeyaa offers a camp cover version of How are you sung by 4 non-blondes from the characters He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. This is a permanent version of a YouTube video that went viral and became an internet meme in 2010. For some strange reason, it's really addicting reputation.

Cat-Bounce does exactly what it says on the can, and cats stand in various poses on the screen. So it doesn't make any sense or sense, but it's an oddly hypnotic conversation, especially since you can manipulate the cats with a few clicks of the mouse (pun intended).

Infinite Drunk Ron Swanson is another site that has the perfect domain name for its purpose. After all, it shows a drunk Ron Swanson who dances as long as you can / can let him stand. Swanson is a character from Parks and recreation Celebrate Movember and the beauty of mustaches with these web resources for those who wear one of the best mustaches. Celebrate Movember and the beauty of mustaches with these web resources. It's Movember. No, that's not a typo, it's more of an "m" than an "n", as November was once again brought up by men with gorgeous mustaches to raise awareness of the ... more ever seen. I personally prefer Infinite Gangnam Stylebut that comes shortly afterwards.

The useful web

The name of this website is wrong. The Useless Web is very useful indeed. What good is the internet if we could not empower everyone to hesitate when we should do something much more valuable or essential? The Useless Web is the ultimate procrastination tool, sorting the chaff into the strangest, most bizarre places in this series of tubes we call InterWebs.

In progress

The Useless Web feels a lot like it is in the works. There are only a certain number of websites currently on The Useless Web and they appear in the same order each time. That is, if you keep clicking like me Take me to a useless website, please With nothing better to do, you may end up seeing the same pages again. Which is a bit of a disappointment.

The Useless Web is a new website, however, and Holman clearly wants to grow it over time. For this purpose there is a 'Submit'Home page button that allows anyone to suggest a website for inclusion on The Useless Web. Holman seems to have pretty strict standards of what is unusable and what is just lame, so many suggestions don't make the cut.
